Haruhi Special Supply Set が手に入った!

On Thursday, I randomly accessed Facebook from my office and randomly did a search on Rapid Culture. There I saw it: The Weiss Schwarz Special Haruhi Supply Set for S$115. Cursing at my stay-in status and the fact that the time taken from my camp to city will take 2 hours at least, I made the humanly correct but otakuly wrong decision to wait till my Friday bookout, even considering that the Nanoha version of the set has already sold out.

Well, of course I didn't leave it at that. I called Rapid Culture on the same day to find out if they have any stock left, which they apparently have quite a few left, so I left it at that.

Well, that's another $120 gone lol. Nevertheless, I was very happy to obtain it; my inner otaku screaming in joy. It's quite a bundle: 2 boosters, Haruhi sleeves, Yuki sleeves, Mikuru sleeves (all came with their PRs), a small 4 piece card album, a DIY card box and a playmat.

And there I was, kidding myself that I would get a foil if I'm lucky. Well, not only do I get a foil, it's yet another Yuki foil! That makes the 4th Yuki foil I have! *sigh* Yuki must've really liked me ^^

Haruhi boosters are out!

-updated from the old post now deleted, supposed to be dated yesterday 22/12/2009-

It was supposed to be a normal leave day, spending my time practicing piano at home, going out for driving lesson before heading to Bugis for some Blazblue, spending only 10 bucks before returning home for late dinner.

It's supposed to be normal at least, until I saw like 4 new messages on my handphone all spamming me the same "HARUHI BOOSTER IS OUT" from 3 different people >.<

I honestly didn't think I would spend 25 times of what I expected to (that's a whole $250 aka more than half my NSF pay). When I finally woke up at like 1pm, I kept telling myself "getting 1 box is enough...getting 1 box is enough..." only to pick up a phone call from Chin Yong asking me how many boxes I want to buy which I unwittingly answered "two". When he confirmed with me if I really wanted two, I just gave him a very confident "of course!".

Well it's a good thing I did. Chin Yong opened a few boosters for me at Ishimura (best curry rice offer btw) and landed me this RRR. Omg it feels so good to touch it >.< It costs 3500 yen btw and it's supposedly the most expensive card I have now.

I haven't opened up the rest of the boxes yet, so who knows what I'll get after this post. ^^

Also, my shipment of selected Phantom cards (+2 flonnes cards!) finally arrived to me in the hands of Karlson. Finally I have 4 flonnes ready to be placed in any red deck I have. It's been so long since I ordered those cards that I forgot I actually ordered some cheap yellows to help my deck >.<

Oh well, at least my leave is coming to an end so I can save some money staying in camp. Sunday Neo-Standard Haruhi tourney at Rapid Culture @ Funan! XD

Update: 2nd box got a yuki SR! XD

*sigh* need to spend more on card protectors and albums now >.<

Weiss Schwarz: Haruhi TD out in SG!

It was supposed to be a normal leave day: wait up late, play some PC games, go buy card protectors, go Bugis play Blazblue til midnight. It was supposed to be that way, until Joel called me up at 1230, telling me that the Haruhi TD arrives at 1400 at Rapid Culture @ Funan.

I immediately got up, changed, and got down to Funan as fast as I could (well not without the delays of my mum who already cooked my lunch), and managed to reach there at 1345. Needless to say, there is a delay; the cards didn't come in at 1400.

So Joel and I played a couple of games, me trying out a new phantom deck now that I bought a 2nd box. It still has the same problem I expected: not enough stock, but it cleared some of my doubt of what I want to improve the deck. I managed to beat his deck, but died to Nanoha trial deck due to horrible luck. I'm kinda surprised to see that the 0/0 2000 power Nanoha card (the suicide card) is actually a TD card though. Maybe I should check it out?

Also, lucky for me, this Saturday's Haruhi TD competition is down to the last and final slot! Woo! I gladly paid $5 and registered. Can't wait to see what the PR card is XD

Anyways, we got some snacks and ran through Joel's iTouch video collections until 1700, when the cards FINALLY arrived. We managed to grab a whole box set of 6, just to ensure that we obtain the solitary foil card. Joel opened his first TD box and the foil card was there (congrat btw :p). It was the "Itsumo no Haruhi to Mikuru" card. Somehow I was expecting that though lol. Too bad it wasn't the Yuki one, else I would really fight for it :p

We headed to Ishimura at Peace Center after some time and ate some curry rice (the curry rice there is great btw, I need to take a pic of it). Overall, I find the Haruhi TD very solid, espacially if you have 2 sets of TD, considering the really powerful cards only come in sets of 2 per TD set. Although some cards are quite bad ("Effect: If this card is in play, you cannot draw cards when you draw"), there are those with almost mind-blowing abilities (2/0 counter card, removes opponent's climax from climax area). Haruhi TD might actually be comparable to Phantom TD, but that's just my speculation.

I was honestly very happy holding the cards. I actually don't mind splurging my money on this Haruhi deck. Next objective: 2 Haruhi boxes due next year. I heard green is Tsuruya and yellow is Mikuru or Kyon. However, I can't be certain on that, but who cares, I'm getting them anyway ^_^

All hail Haruhism!

My first Weiss Schwarz competition

I woke up Sunday morning with a huge headache, a headache that felt as if some microscopic organism is eating into my brain. Despite that, I got myself up and had a quick lunch before going to The Card Geeks at Sunshine Plaza, deck ready in my hand.

Since this is my first time, I didn't expect everything to go smoothly. Most of the stuff I do for the entire day can give people two conclusions: Either I'm trying to cheat, or I'm just plain inexperienced. I have deal the rather bad impression I thought I put up on myself but fortunately, the guys there are pretty friendly and understanding.

First mistake I did was registering 5 of the same cards. I didn't know there was a rule saying that there is a maximum of 4 of the same cards that can be registered into a deck. Regardless, I did a quick fix.

There are two mistakes I keep making during the game. Firstly, I keep forgetting to 'untap' my characters at the start of my turn and secondly, to consider my HP for what color cards I can summon. Honestly I apologize for this as having 1.0 HP doesn't happen very often for me, but happened like 3 times during the competition. Luckily the judges and the more experienced players are there to pick out the mistakes.

I don't know how I managed to win 3 matches out of 4 though. 1st guy (Huan Da?) had like 3 3/2 10000 power cards in my face against my 1 of the same card and a couple of 2/2 8500 power card. At the last desperate attempt, I barely managed to defeat him by dealing just enough damage (also thanks to a lucky +1 damage trigger card).

2nd guy (Nicholas?) was rather stressful. I could just say he has better luck than me. No matter how hard or soft I hit him, he will reversal almost everything. I haven't even seen the power of his deck, if he has any, but it doesn't matter since I can't touch his HP anyways.

3rd guy (Terrence?) was pretty okay, mainly because he mixed his Idolmaster deck with Phantom (got the feeling they don't really go well...), but amazingly he made it to the top 4! Damn good!

4th guy (can't remember >.<) was quite madpiss. I cleared his field the whole game, but for some reason, he's hitting me harder than I am to him. He spams the +2 soul climax cards like mad and quickly bumped me up to level 2, but I managed to break even and beat him. Good thing my climax cards are seperated, or his build would've killed me fast.

The 2 guys I fought for finals are: Terrance and the funny guy who loves my Etna 0/0 3000 power card whose name I cannot remember >.< (ごめん。。). He was damn tough as his deck revolves around 3 kinds of cards which he can pull out if he wants as long as he has the cost. The same formation of cards appeared in front of me for both games. Basically his support each gives his front card +1000 power each I think, and his front cards are 2/2 8500 power cards WITH ENCORE (discard one card from hand to revive instead of 3 stock).

Terrance(?) had bad luck against me I guess. I saw him giving short sighs and long considerations, and still didn't get the cards he needed. He did show me a nice combo with one of the Phantom cards though, so I might take it into consideration.

So that's about wraps everything up. I really had tons of fun, even when I lost. I guess that's because I told myself that I'm playing this for fun and not let losing get me down, since this game indeed has some luck involved. I'm still surprised at my luck this tourney, but perhaps because I brought Joel's lucky charm with me. Thanks Joel, it really worked XD Pictures to be added soon.
